In the 2021/2022 academic year, the selection process consisted of the following stages. Stage 1: Submitting an application that included an essay and a CV. Stage 2: Interview with two representatives of the Ampersand Foundation. Stage 3: Those who passed both previous stages were presented to Ampersand donors as potential candidates, and the two who received the most votes were offered scholarships and another two students who joined us for our mentorship program (w/o financial support at first, but were later granted partial scholarship).
Out of 34 active members of the community, 13 voted for their top three (or fewer) candidates for Ampersand scholarships at KSE. The distribution of the votes was the following:
The top three candidates for the 2021/2022 academic year that was (in alphabetic order) – Valerii Kulalaiev, Kateryna Stuzhuk. All candidates accepted their scholarships.
* – Additionally, Angelina Danileiko and Roman Tsyolkovskyi received fantastic feedback from community members during their interviews and, though not made it to the top 2, agreed to join Ampersand without the scholarships. Nevertheless, as we considered their exceptional academic achievements and contribution to the community, the decision was made by Ampersand to cover 35% and 65% of his tuition fees respectively.
